A “Tragic” Mistake

DHS Secretary Jeh Johnson called the amnesty given to accused “Top Model” killer Emmanuel Jesus Rangel was a “tragic” mistake.

Rangel faced deportation in 2013 but received amnesty thanks to President Obama’s Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) scheme.

Rangel received the gift from the Obama Administration even though Rangel appeared on a federal database flagging his gang affiliations which should have made him ineligible for amnesty.

“This case is a tragic case and he should not have received DACA,” Mr. Johnson told the Senate Judiciary Committee.

Committee Chairman Charles E. Grassley, Iowa Republican, said the case exposed major holes in the DACA program, which is open to so-called Dreamers, or young adult illegal immigrants who came to the U.S. as children, and who are deemed the most sympathetic figures in the immigration debate.

Mr. Grassley said 282 people who have been approved for DACA have since been kicked out of the program because of gang ties or criminal convictions, which the senator said suggests the background checks the administration is doing aren’t very effective.

Rangel stands accused of slaughtering Mirjana Puhar, 19 and three others in a drug-related frenzy in late February. Puhar was a contestant on the reality TV show “America’s Next Top Model” in 2014.

During the hearing, Sen. Grassley pointedly asked Johnson who was to blame in his massive bureaucracy for the “tragic” mistake which allowed Rangel to overstay his welcome in the United States.

Here you can see Secretary Johnson fail to directly answer Sen. Grassley’s rather specific question about who was to blame for allowing the murderous Rangel to stay in the U.S.
