Politico – The Senate took its first major vote on changing the Gang of Eight’s immigration bill Thursday, killing a strict border security proposal that would have delayed granting legal status to the 11 million living without documents in the United States.
The plan was sponsored by Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa), and would require the Department of Homeland Security to confirm that the border was secure for six months before undocumented immigrants could transition into a legal status. [Read More]
