Statewide radio ad calls proposed Educational Savings Accounts “new entitlement” and “giveaway” to illegal aliens

Aliso Viejo, CA – Minuteman Project Founder and President Jim Gilchrist, the nation’s leading grassroots activist on the issue of immigration reform and border security, sponsored a statewide radio ad buy opposing the Tennessee Legislature’s proposed Educational Savings Accounts. Gilchrist is asking for opponents of illegal immigration and those who oppose amnesty to join with him in calling and emailing their state legislators to show their opposition to the plan.

The ad, which will be broadcast this week and next statewide, says “Each year taxpayers are on the hook for billions to illegal immigrants. The waste and law breaking has to stop. That’s why I’m against the Tennessee Legislature’s scheme: “education saving accounts” to literally give debit cards to illegal immigrants to spend any way they want.”

The ad further explains, “Breitbart News reports the current attempt at “school choice reform” could be a new entitlement that drains needed funds from current students – especially in rural and struggling schools. Governor Bill Lee’s top education advisor worked for the group that hatched a similar plan in Arizona. Now they want this giveaway here.”

The ad then requests that opponents of creating a magnet for illegal aliens in Tennessee to contact state legislators before concluding, “Tell them to stand up against amnesty and enforce the rule of law. Tell them to say “no” to “education savings accounts” – these new taxpayer subsidized benefits for illegal immigrants.”

Jim Gilchrist founded the multi-ethnic Minuteman Project on Oct. 1, 2004, after years of frustrated efforts trying to get a neglectful U.S. government to simply enforce existing immigration laws.
