If further proof was needed, Jeb Bush showed himself to be more of a friend to illegal immigrants than he is to Americans at a speech this week. After he was heckled by an angry crowd chanting “No hope without our vote” during an address to a national Hispanic business group, he stopped to remind them that he’s the presidential candidate that is all for a “path to citizenship.”
Yes, they got the wrong guy. Bush stopped his speech to the U.S. Hispanic Chamber of Commerce in Houston to remind those shouting that he’s the candidate who supports a pathway to citizenship for children of people in the U.S. illegally, the so-called DREAMers.
The U.S. Hispanic Chamber of Commerce released a statement denouncing the protests, saying Bush has a record of commitment to Hispanics. And in his speech, Bush absolutely confirmed this commitment.
“We don’t need to build a wall. We don’t need to deport everybody in this country (illegally),” said Bush. “It’s not a practical conservative plan.” said Bush, who added that immigration can boost the U.S. economy.
Yes, Jeb, it IS a practical conservative plan. The 12 million illegal aliens you want to assimilate will put a massive strain on the economy. Just because you have a personal connection to Latin American doesn’t mean we all want one.
Then he attacked Donald Trump. In his speech, Bush said “a great majority of Republicans believe in immigration reform” and slammed Donald Trump’s immigration plan to build a border wall and deport those here illegally before allowing “the good ones” to legally return.
As firm supporters of the Trump plan, we suggest Bush gets off the stump and heads back to Florida.
