Dems Demand Detained Illegals Be Released

130 House Democrats have signed a letter to Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson demanding the immediate release of illegal immigrant families held in detention facilities.

Wednesday’s letter is led by Democratic Reps. Zoe Lofgren of California, Lucille Roybal-Allard of California and Luis Gutierrez of Illinois, who all play key roles for House Democrats on the issue of immigration. Signers include House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) and House Minority Whip Steny Hoyer (D-Md.).

Administration officials have said such facilities — like the detention center in Dilley, Texas, which opened last year and is designed specifically for families—is a necessary tool to deter illegal migration.

These Democrat politicians claim the detention facilities are “inhumane” and children should not be held in “jail-like” conditions.

In fact, many illegals have complained as well about a Karnes City facility.

the children are unaccustomed to being restricted to the facility and have trouble with the more rigid eating and schooling schedules. She said the food, such as reheated vegetables and chicken mixed with pineapple and oranges, is also foreign to them.

Last September, ICE provided a tour of the facility, which is run by national prison operator GEO Group. Immigrant children were seen playing kickball and sitting in classrooms as they were read stories in Spanish. Officials have defended the facility before, noting that the children get daily schooling and outside play time and that residents are free to use the Internet, flat-screen televisions and a hair salon — all while their cases are processed through the courts.

Since the rate illegals appear at their deportation hearings is somewhere in the single digits, its likely the result of turning thousands of illegals loose would be to simply increase the illegal alien population in advance of Obama’s amnesty order.

Meanwhile, the illegals will just have to scrape by with their free food and taxpayer-provided flat screens and internet access for just a while longer.
