Past Bush immigration remarks shock conservatives

Washington (CNN) — During a “Family Reunion” conference hosted by the Hispanic Leadership Network in April 2013, Jeb Bush spoke freely on the promise immigrants hold for America and his views on reform.

He said, during a discussion with Univision, that it was “ridiculous” to think that DREAMers, children brought to the U.S. by their parents illegally, shouldn’t have an “accelerated path” to citizenship.

Then, the former Florida governor was speaking to a friendly audience of establishment Republicans, after re-inserting himself in the immigration reform with the release of a controversial book on the issue a month prior.

But as he moves towards a probable presidential run, and the far less friendly terrain of the GOP primary fight, the comments, which were shared with CNN by Democratic tracking firm American Bridge, are certain to deepen already developing headaches for him — on both the left and especially the right, as conservatives react in a mixture of bewilderment and eye-rolling when confronted with some of Bush’s resurfaced lines on immigration.

“I’ve never felt like the sins of the parents should be ascribed to the children, you know,” Bush said in 2013. “If your children always have to pay the price for adults decisions they make — how fair is that? For people who have no country to go back to — which are many of the DREAMers — it’s ridiculous to think that there shouldn’t be some accelerated path to citizenship.”

This Illegal alien pusher will sure as heck get Hilary Clinton in the WH 2016, maybe that’s the plan? This is who the cooperate thugs, the RINOs and the Rest of the illegal alien pushers choose? That’s funny! Another RINO mistake the GOP will pay for in 2016. He could probably win a eating contest if that’s any reassurance?

  2. as independents who vote republican my family and I will simply not vote at all if Bush is the candidate!

bro ice pick is cleverly laying the trial balloon seeds for his own defense for what poppy and baby ice pick did for the nwo cause.

poppy announced the “wonderful” nwo on 9/11/90 with secy of defense cheney. baby executed the fdaa and patriot acts right after the 9/11/01 nwo event, also with vp cheney.

and mr. innocence himself, bro ice pick, with npac cheney founder and co-signatory, laid out the nwo’s pearl harbor blueprint plan on 9/11/00. let’s first see him deny this history. then we will open the whole can of worms, revisit it.

  7. Jim Gilchrist says

    Dear Americans,

The Minuteman Project has never, and will never, support or endorse Jeb Bush for any political office. It is our feeling that Jeb Bush will absolutely follow Barack Obama’s poor leadership and continue granting amnesties, year after year, to any illegal aliens who happen to make it into U.S. territory.

Mr. Bush will also withhold enforcement of U.S. immigration laws against aliens who have overstayed their visas. After all, Jeb Bush is married to a Mexican immigrant and will not do anything to deny the blatant illegal entry into the USA by millions more of Mexico’s population. Jeb Bush’s wife, and Jeb Bush, have relatives and friends in Mexico. They have NO interest in enforcing our immigration laws.

The two prior “Bush” presidents deliberately avoided taking a firm stance on the simple enforcement of our nation’s immigration laws. A THIRD “Bush” presidency will continue that culture of corruption.

Until the United States elects a candidate for president who will take our nation’s rules of law seriously our presidents and congresspersons will repeat the same cowardly neglect of immigration law enforcement practiced by their predecessors.

The last president who earnestly enforced our immigration laws was President Dwight D. Eisenhower and the congresses of 1952-1960.

Please do not consider any candidate for any office who does not have a proven record of supporting immigration law enforcement.

All we are asking for, as Americans, is that our political governors respect and uphold the same laws this nation’s citizenry is expected to uphold. Anything less means we are a lawless country with our laws almost being dictated by mobs of millions of illegal aliens who have no right to be here, but have every right to be repatriated back to their homelands.

Jim Gilchrist, Founder and President, The Minuteman Project
