An illegal alien and an accomplice, who operated a Mexican restaurant in La Vernia, TX, were sentenced by a federal judge for selling fake immigration documents to other illegal aliens.
Chief US District Judge Fred Biery sentenced Yolanda Hernandez de Arteaga, 49, and Maria de Lourdes Montano-Vicencio, 57 to federal prison for scheming “individuals seeking legitimate immigration documents,” Acting US Attorney Richard L. Durbin, Jr. announced Tuesday in San Antonio.
Hernandez de Arteaga operated the Los Compadres Restaurant in LaVernia while promising to secure legal immigration status to numerous immigrants in exchange for money. She received a 30-month sentence, three years supervision when released and will have to pay $144,063 to her victims.
Montano-Vicencio, an undocumented alien now residing in Houston was sentenced to 46 months and has to help Hernandez de Arteaga pay the $144,063 restitution.
Yes, its an illegal alien promising to fix immigration problems for other illegals for money.
Evidence revealed that from October 2010 through December 2012, the two conspirators told illegal aliens in the area they had personal contacts with immigration officials and authorities who could provide social security cards, resident alien cars and work permits for a fee.
The victims were told they could get the legal status items within six months but the promised documents were never provided. The two conspirators “collected over $100,000 from more than 60 immigrants desperate for legal immigration status documents.”
“When the victim-immigrants became angry because they never received any documents or refunds, the defendants threatened to notify immigration authorities and facilitate the deportation of the immigrants if the victims made trouble,” said Durbin. “During the scheme, Hernandez de Arteaga wired proceeds from the scheme from LaVernia to Montano-Vicencio in Houston via Western Union or MoneyGram.”
The lesson here is: If the illegals had all just waited a while, President Obama would have given them everything they wanted for free.
