Over 2,000 illegal immigrant criminals were rounded up recently by the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in a nationwide sweep of, in the words of ICE Director Sarah Saldana, the “worst of the worst.”
Among the dangerous criminals detained, 15 were allowed to stay in the United States thanks to Barack Obama’s executive edict known as Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, or DACA.
One of the 15 was a convicted drug offender yet still got Obama’s free pass to stay in the U.S.
Under the program, known as Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, or DACA, more than 675,000 young immigrants since August 2012 have been granted a work permit and reprieve from deportation.
“With few fraud detection measures and effective background checks in place, it’s no surprise that ICE arrested over a dozen DACA recipients last week, most of whom had already been convicted of a crime,” said House Judiciary Committee Chairman Bob Goodlatte. “I and other members of the House Judiciary Committee have expressed concern about this for years.”
DACA is just a small slice of the total illegal immigration pie. And yet, dangerous, convicted criminals still got amnesty under this plan.
Now, Obama wants to extend protections to a much bigger population of illegals and assures us they will carefully screen applicants. Based on their failure with the smaller DACA program, its seems unlikely they will weed out dangerous criminals.
