Bernie Sanders was predictable. “Let me begin right off, by telling you that I intend, as a United States senator and as a candidate for president of the United States, to do everything I can, in every way, to combat the xenophobia and racist rhetoric coming from Donald Trump and others.”
He said this on Tuesday in a video linked speech to a small audience at the National Immigrant Integration Conference in Brooklyn.
Last night he Tweeted this about Donald Trump:
According to the Bernie ’16 website, if elected, Sanders says he would accomplish the following.
- Dismantle deportation programs and private detention centers.
- Offer asylum to victims of domestic violence and minors fleeing from dangerous circumstances in Latin America.
- Pave the way for a swift legislative path to citizenship for 11 million undocumented immigrants.
- Close loopholes that allow federal agencies to use racial and ethnic profiling at the border.
- Make it easier for immigrants to access the judicial system.
At least you know what you’re up against with Sanders. He doesn’t change his message, even if it’s wrong. We’re not racists. It’s the Left’s default criticism to shut down debate. My family is made up of many races. But we’re all American and we’re legally here. It’s not racist to want people who move here to have been vetted and subjected to every scrutiny. That’s what the immigration rules demand and that’s what Obama, sanders and Clinton are all prepared to let slide.
Donald Trump is right here.
