Obama tells Border Patrol to ignore drunk drivers

Border Patrol agents in the Tucson, Ariz. area were shocked at a recent memo handed down by the Obama Administration which ordered them to ignore drunk drivers in the course of their duties.

Judicial Watch obtained a copy of the memo:

[…] the notice is titled “Enforcement Options With Alcohol-Impaired Drivers” and directs the 4,000-plus U.S. Border Patrol agents in the Tucson, Arizona sector to “release” individuals under the influence and “allow them to go on their way.”

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) issued the memo and claims Border Patrol agents are not responsible for enforcing state crimes like DUI. It says it places the federal government at maximum liability if Border Patrol agents stop drunk drivers unless state or local law enforcement ask them too.

So under Obama, Border Patrol agents can’t arrest drunk drivers and state and local cops can’t arrest illegal aliens. Sounds about right.
