MInuteman Project Immigration Legal Counsel Killed

Dear Americans eulogy

Dear Americans,

It is with deep sadness that I report that my long-time friend and mentor on legal aspects of immigration issues, Counselor John R. Alcorn, was killed when hit by a car while he escorted his four-year-old son on his first trick-or-treat. Mr. Alcorn has provided advice on immigration perspectives to me since the inception of the Minuteman Project ten years ago. He also is a fellow Marine Corps veteran, having served as an attorney for the Marine Corps at the rank of Captain. John will always be in my thoughts and prayers. He is survived by his wife, Doxia Alcorn, his four-year-old injured son, John-Lincoln Alcorn, and daughters Sophia and Marlena. —

An Irvine, Calif., man was killed Friday night when he and his 4-year-old son were struck by a car while trick-or-treating, the second fatal Halloween-related incident to occur in Orange County, police said.

John Roger Alcorn, 65, was struck by the vehicle about 7:15 p.m. on West Yale Loop near Burwood Street in Irvine, according to the Irvine Police Department. He later died from his injuries.

Alcorn’s son, who has not been identified, sustained “significant” injuries and remains hospitalized at a local trauma center in critical but stable condition, police said.

The female driver of the Mazda 3 car that struck the two victims stopped at the scene and has cooperated with police. She has not been arrested.

The investigation is ongoing, the Police Department said.
