DREAMer arrested in sexual predator sting

A Honduran man who had illegally entered the U.S. but was permitted to stay under Barack Obama’s DREAM Act faces federal charges after allegedly attempting to lure a 14-year-old into a hotel room for sex. The girl was an undercover federal agent:

Agents with U.S. Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) arrested 24-year-old Fernando Hernandez Rodas last weekend in Laredo. He appeared  before U.S. Magistrate Judge J. Scott Hacker this week for an initial hearing. During that hearing Hacker formally read the charges against Hernandez and ordered he be held without bond.

The agents had begun an investigation into Hernandez on April 15. He had been communicating with them through emails and texts thinking that he was talking to a 14-year-old girl, court records obtained by Breitbart Texas revealed.

Hernandez allegedly rented a hotel room and headed to a local business to pick-up the girl under the impression that he would be having sex with her. In reality HSI agents, Laredo Police and the Webb County Sheriff’s Office were waiting for him and arrested him when he arrived.

Earlier this year, 15 DREAMers were arrested in connection with a national sweep of wanted criminals; 14 had previous convictions.
