Convicted child molester Abraham Anibol Chumil, a Guatemalan national, was caught illegally reentering the United States after he had been deported.
Chumil pled guilty to sexual assault charges in Bergen County, New Jersey after authorities accused him of attacking an 8 year old girl.
Chumil was arrested in August, 2013 for sexually assaulting an 8-year-old girl in the home where he lived with the girl and her family, according to an article in Cliffview Pilot. In at least two incidents, the sexual assaults occurred in the presence of the child’s 6-year-old sister. Chumil was arraigned on January 27, 2014 on charges of “first-degree attempted sexual penetration of a child less than 13; second degree criminal sexual assault of a child; impairing or debauching the morals of a child; and abusing or neglecting a child under 16,” the article stated.
In November 2014, he was sentenced to 5 years in jail. However, instead of rotting in a U.S. jail
A week after the sentencing, INS agents took him into custody for deporation, records show.
Not four months later, Border Patrol agents caught Chumil trying to cross in the Rio Grande Valley Sector. He was sent to the McAllen Boder Patrol Station where they discovered his criminal past.
